Leave the hate & bitterness.

Watching the news and seeing what some people post on Facebook and other Social Media makes me upset on a daily basis.

As a believer I know what it feels like to be pigeonholed. People have a certain judgement of how you live or how you think just because you’re ‘religious’. But as each religion teaches us how to be at peace, I don’t understand why many ‘religious’ people can’t set the foundation of that. Why is it so hard to practice what we preach? If our God or religion asks us to forgive our neighbor, why can’t we forgive, even after they said or did horrible things to us? We forget that forgiveness and love are the two most powerful things that we can own. Without it, our faith would be for nothing.

If unbelievers would question our faith, the only thing we can do is to testify about how our lives are changed because of it. The only thing we can do is show them how the love of God has changed us completely.

You cannot force people to think the way you do (which by the way is called indoctrination). Think of it; if God wanted every person to believe in Him, He could easily do that in a flash. But we forget that He gave human beings a free will to choose. So if even GOD is giving us a free will, who are WE to be so obsessed with controlling other people’s lives? Respect people around you, for they have a free will. Respect people with other beliefs. Respect the non-believers, for they are your brothers and sisters too.

And for the non-believers, I know how hate can easily take over your heart by seeing massacres and wars that are done in the name of God. I get grieved when I hear about such things. I think that in this time of distress, respect is missing. Yes, of course you can have your opinions about a certain religion, but you cannot shower it with hatred. And yes, you have the right to speak up your mind, but don’t get that twisted and use that as an excuse to start offending other people. You cannot treat people with less respect because they believe in something other than you. This is not about religion anymore. This is about humanity.

Remember that everything bad started with hate. And if you inspect some in your own heart, remove it. What do you gain from it anyway? You will live a life full of bitterness and negativity.

After this post you can say things about me, such as how naïve I am or how hard I’m trying to be a peacemaker. I’m not trying to teach you anything, but I’m hoping that we can love our fellow man by heart despite some disagreements or a different point of view on life. It all starts with us.

Ask yourself; how can I make this world a better place? Is it by pleasing YOUR people by spreading the same hate?

Leave the hate & bitterness; gain love & respect.

Love, Yin
